Leon G. Roberts

Leon G. Roberts, 78, passed away Friday, January 29, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Savannah, son of Gustave Leon and Frances Fears Roberts. Having graduated from Savannah High School, Leon retired as a skilled machinist with Champion Machine. He was a veteran of the Georgia Air National Guard Reserves, member of the American Legion Post 84, and a longtime member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. He gave generously of his time and talent quietly to his church and others. Leon had a lifetime love of boating, supplying family and friends with seafood.   He was preceded in death by his wife, Willene Morris Roberts, sister, Linda Roberts Way and brother, John Marshall Roberts.

Surviving are his children, Rebecca Roberts Gandy (Charles) of Columbia, SC; Ronald M. Roberts (Carla) of Ellabell, GA; Mary Margaret “Pegi” Roberts (David Bradham) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sister, Joyce Roberts McCallar (Charles) of Pooler, GA; grandchildren, Michael Beatty (Kate), Daryle-Lynn Roberts, Madison Grace Roberts, David Wright Bradham, Jr., Roberts Elizabeth Bradham, great grandchildren, Olivia Beatrice Beatty and Georgia Ann Beatty, nieces  nephews and his loyal dachshund, Lilly.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in Bonaventure Cemetery. The family welcomes anyone who knew Leon to attend.
